Under the veil of prosperity, there are homeless, lonely elderly, minorities, etc. who are abandoned by the rapid development. Due to expensive burial space and niches, being forever abandoned even after death might be the lamentable fate for the abandoned people. This is an issue concerning inequalities, which deserves more attention.
It is a monument of the abandoned souls and a response to inequalities. Architecture and space of the abandoned village at So Lo Pun are designed strategically to:
• Provide accommodation with respect to each individual soul and the ability to merge into existing structure as one.
• Record and narrate history and potential future through space.
• Connect time, history and memories, so as to provoke the instinctive response of people, as a way of life and death education.
